Mizuno Collection"Extolling Spring"

Melting of the snow, buds of new leaves and swelling of flower buds. When we find these small signs of spring during the freezing days of winter, we cannot help but feel a special delight. This is probably because spring is the season of new beginnings for nature and living organisms which repeat regeneration.
This exhibition will focus on the transition from winter to spring as well as the sceneries of spring depicted with people and animals. Please witness the various forms of "spring" portrayed by the masters from the Meiji period to the Heisei period, including Taikan Yokoyama and Gyokudo Kawai who supported the world of modern Japanese style painting and Toshio Matsuo and Chinami Nakajima of the current generation.
We hope you will fully enjoy the breaths of spring that the master painters have been portraying over the generations.
