The museum is located inside the Hachimanpara Historic Park, which also include the old battlefield of Kawanakajima. It offers regular and special exhibitions in wide variety of genres themed around the subjects such as natural features, history and folk customs of the Zenkoji-daira (basin) region. It also offers various classes, lectures, and events as occasion calls. It contains a planetarium, which offers popular original programs useful for stellar observation in local area. The planetarium projection is offered on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and during the spring, summer and winter school breaks.
